It’s predecessor may not have been much cop, but Ninety-Nine Nights II seems to be shaping up nicely, if these latest screens are anything to go by.
Famitsu’s posted up some screenshots of the game on its website – and while it looks like being more of the same, it seems that Q Entertainment’s been able to tart up the visuals a fair bit.
Not only does everything appear more rugged and gritty now, the fire and blood splatter effects especially seem to be nicely done.
That said, there’ll need to be some substantial gameplay improvements as well, if N3 II is to avoid the same pitfalls that befell its shallow, yet stupidly fun predecessor.
The game is due out in Japan later this year. No word yet on a Western release, although we wouldn’t be too surprised if it turned up over here during the course of 2010.
